Keeping Arun District Tidy

Local residents of Littlehampton came together on Thursday as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British September Clean. Organised by West Sussex County Councillor, Gary Markwell, who represents Arundel & Courtwick division, local residents armed with litter pickers and rubbish sacks visited the Kingley Gate development and the Eden Park development in North Littlehampton.

During the day nine sacks full of litter was collected from green spaces, play parks and curbsides around the residential developments. Several litter hot spots, along with some overflowing rubbish bins were also identified during the day and reported to Arun District Council.

Speaking after the day of litter picking, Councillor Gary Markwell said “It was really good to see so many people coming together to help make our local areas tidier for us all to enjoy. We all had good fun and I’ve already had local residents asking me to organise another litter picking day.

“Arun is such a beautiful area to live in and we always need to keep in mind the damage that litter can do to the environment around us, so please remember to take your litter home”.
